Highway 12 Work Begins in Montrose

More work on Highway 12 through the Wright County area is now underway.

MnDOT began work on Highway 12 in Montrose on Monday. The work zone is in an area from east of Clementa Avenue Southwest to east of Zephyr Avenue.

Crews will be paving Highway 12 with a new asphalt road surface, as well as re-constructing or repairing concrete curbs, gutters and entrances. Work will also include a new center turn lane to be added at Zephyr and Arizona Avenue. The Highway 12 intersection with Highway 25 and Wright County Road 12 / Buffalo Avenue South will also be re-constructed to improve the truck turning radius and pedestrian crosswalk.

Crews will be working primarily between 7 AM and 7 PM. Highway 12 will remain open to one lane of traffic in the work zone. Motorists should expect narrow lanes, lane shifts, gravel surfaces and flaggers directing traffic. Shoulders and turn lanes will be closed at times.

Officials emphasize that Montrose is open. Access to businesses and residences will be maintained and open along Highway 12. Alternate entrances or side streets, including sidewalk detours may be used periodically throughout the construction.

Work is expected to be completed by mid-October.
