Howard Lake, Monticello Road Construction Projects Enter New Phase

Road construction work enters a new phase at two project sites in Wright County beginning today (Monday).

Highway 12 work in Howard Lake continues, and MnDOT is advising motorists that now through mid-July, Highway 12 will stay open with one lane in each direction from west of 13th Avenue to east of 6th Avenue.

Drivers should expect narrow lanes, lane shifts, gravel surfaces and flaggers directing traffic. Shoulders and turn lanes will close temporarily.

By mid-July, crews will pave Highway 12 with new asphalt, curb repairs, gutter and entrance installations, and upgrades to sidewalks and ramps. In downtown Howard Lake, sidewalks will be widened and crosswalk signals will be updated.

Meanwhile in Monticello, work on the School Boulevard Improvement Project will begin as detours and road closures will begin.

Working hours for the project are 7 AM to 7 PM Monday through Saturday. Construction will be done in phases, and the detours and road closures will change throughout the project.

The scope of the project includes reclamation of School Boulevard between Highway 25 and Country Lane in Monticello, as well as reclamation as required for Cedar Street and Edmonson Avenue for roundabout construction. Other project details include curb and gutter replacements and repair of drainage issues, installation of new lights on a new pathway, removal of the center medians between Highway 25 and Edmonson Avenue, and construction of two single-lane roundabouts on School Boulevard at the intersections with Cedar Street and Edmonson Avenue, both of which are currently controlled with 4-way stop signs.

Officials in Monticello say the bulk of the work should be completed by this September.
