The Howard Lake Police Department reported on its Facebook page Tuesday that it is working with the Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted School District’s Administration on an investigation into what law enforcement called a “possible threat” made to the District 2687 High School and Middle School campus.

Officials were not specific about what the threat might have involved, but they did post that they were unable to find any substantial evidence to support the threat allegation. Police officials posted that two students and their families were cooperating in the investigation.

The Howard Lake Police Department reported that they have had an increased presence at the school that will continue until the investigation is complete, but re-iterated that at present they did not see a “credible threat” to the school related to the allegation.

Meanwhile, school district officials said that they are continuing to work with local law enforcement partners, and indicated that the district will continue with standard security practices, though additional law enforcement would be available as needed.

Class schedules at the school campus have continued this week with no changes.
