A Celebration of Life is planned for today (Friday) for a longtime law enforcement officer and Air Force veteran.
Steven Karris passed away unexpectedly at his St. Michael home on December 16th at the age of 67.
Steve grew up in Brooklyn Park and graduated from Anoka High School. He later attended the U of M in the Air Force ROTC program as a pilot. He would later switched his major to law enforcement, and graduated from North Hennepin Community College with an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice.
He worked as a police officer and detective in St. Paul and Brooklyn Center for most of his career. He served as a hostage negotiator, SWAT team member, and was on the Midwest Gang Task Force, and served for many years as a union steward and contract negotiator. He also worked for Wells Fargo and the Osseo School District.
Steve was a longtime volunteer for the Suburban Law Enforcement Association, and other associated organizations.
A Celebration of Life for Steven Karris is scheduled for today (Friday) at the Peterson Chapel in St. Michael.
