Some 29 farmers’ markets from across Minnesota are getting a boost courtesy of some funding from the state Department of Agriculture.
Communications Specialist Nikki Warner says the funding can be used for a number of things…
“Signage just to let people know about it. Tokens, a lot of times, markets use wooden tokens for each dollar purchase, so you can use them just like cash. The farmers can then get reimbursed for them at the end of market. There’s even a couple of markets that I know are using their grant funds for transportation.”
Nearly $150,000 will be distributed among the markets.
