Local Man Among MN Contingent at American Farm Bureau Convention

(MN Farm Bureau President – Dan Glessing)

A Wright County man is heading up the Minnesota contingent at the annual American Farm Bureau Convention, which is underway in San Antonio.

Minnesota Farm Bureau president Dan Glessing of Waverly says members have many challenges to discuss at the gathering in Texas…

Just the uncertainty of the farm economy right now and commodity prices, trade issues, and farm bill. Of course, we weren’t excited about the first extension, and we’re not excited about this next extension.”

Glessing says in the meantime, congress will be busy working on tax policy, which will also be critical for farmers in all areas of the country…

But at the end of the day, we’re working hard for our members and trying to get that point across that they need the certainty of a new farm bill. Freshen up numbers to reflect those inflationary (pressures) and input prices really have increased since the last time we had the farm bill freshened up, so that’s what we’re going to go for.”
