A major re-construction project is planned for this summer on Highway 25 between Buffalo and Monticello. MnDOT has outlined the work that is expected to begin in the spring, and continue through the early fall.

Officials say the work will include replacement of underground drainage pipes and other infrastructure, installation of roundabouts, turn lanes, new intersection lighting, guardrails and work on access approaches.

A detour on Highway 25 is scheduled to begin at the end of the school year in June, and will continue until the late fall. Access will be maintained for those who live, work or visit those within the closed work zone, though some hard closures will be necessary from time to time according to MnDOT.

Project features will include new roundabouts on Highway 25 at County Roads 37 and 113, as well as at Catlin Street in Buffalo near the Buffalo Hospital.

The entire roadway will be revitalized, along with paved shoulders. Some early prep work began last fall, and will resume in the spring. Most of the main work including the infrastructure work and construction of the roundabouts will be done in the summer, with re-construction of the road surface to come in the late summer and early fall, with wrap-up work planned for the late fall.

More information on the work is available at; www.dot.state.mn.us.
