The Irish heritage of the community will be celebrated Saturday during the 48th Annual St. Patrick’s Day in Maple Lake.
The festival is held annually on the Saturday before the actual St. Patty’s Day.
The festivities open on Saturday with a craft sale from 9 AM to 2 PM at the Maple Lake Elementary School. Registration for the annual Irish Scamper will begin at 9 AM at the Maple Lake High School, with the event to start at 11 AM in downtown Maple Lake.
Saturday’s Grande Day Parade will be led by Grand Marshals, the Maple Lake retired firefighters. Line-up will be at 12:30 PM, with the parade beginning at 1:30.
Following the parade, many of the Maple Lake restaurants and bars will feature special St. Patrick’s Day menus and beverages. Many locations will also have live music throughout the afternoon and evening. Other civic organizations and businesses will also offer St. Patrick’s specials.
St. Patrick’s Day buttons, designed by Heather and Hanna Zieska are selling for 2 dollars, giving the buyer a chance to win 100 dollars in the annual drawing. Purchase your button at local businesses, or from the Maple Lake Royalty.
