The Minnesota Department of Agriculture has announced grant awards to a number of communities across the state to fund their local farmers’ markets. Communications Specialist Nikki Warner says the grant funds can help a lot of producers stabilize their operation…
“This grant really just gives those markets a boost, whether it is helping to pay salary or stipends for staff or volunteers who are administering the programs, there’s paperwork, sometimes there’s point of sale machines that need to be purchased and used and upkept.”
Twenty-nine markets in total will divvy up nearly $150,000 in funding from the MDA.
