MDA to Add New Counselors to its Farmers Mental Health Support Program

The Minnesota Department of Ag is welcoming two new counselors to its farmers mental health support program.

MDA Senior Advisor Meg Moynihan says relationship stressors are one area farmers usually seek help with…

When family relationships are on the rocks, that can affect the farming operation, but by the same token, when the farming operation is struggling, that can have a really tough effect on family relationships in the farm because so many of our farms are family businesses and operations.”

Moynihan says uncertainty in the market is often a leading cause of stress in agriculture…

People are uncertain about what tariffs will do to the cost of inputs like fuel, fertilizer and seed. We also hear a lot of concerns about long term what might happen to the markets in Minnesota. So much of our production goes overseas that it’s a really important market for us.”

If you or someone you know needs to talk to one of the counselors, visit the MDA website at; www.mda.state.mn.us for more information.
