MN Attorney General, 22 States, File Lawsuits Against President Trump’s Federal Funding Freeze

(MN Attorney General Keith Ellison)

Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison and 22 states are suing to stop President Donald Trump’s order to freeze federal funding.

The Trump administration announced the freeze early Tuesday, citing the need to review across-the-board spending. Later that day, a federal judge blocked the order until Monday.

Attorney General Ellison says the suit will proceed, as the president’s order targets multiple groups who rely on government funding….

Programs such as the Federal Highway Administration, the Federal Aviation Administration, agriculture, education—I have a long list, including children’s programs, including the Attorney General’s program to stop Medicaid fraud.”

The Trump administration has said programs that directly assist Americans, like Medicaid, will not be affected, and Wednesday, the administration rescinded the original memo that had caused the confusion. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt clarified that while the memo was rescinded, close scrutiny of all federal expenditures will continue.

There’s no word as to whether or not that will stop the lawsuits from going forward.
