More than 250 county commissioners and officials from nearly every Minnesota county gathered at the State Capitol in St. Paul Wednesday as a part of “County Day at the Capitol,” organized by the Association of Minnesota Counties.
Officials met with state legislators including key committee chairs and caucus leaders to advocate for the AMC’s 2026 Legislative Priorities, which includes issues surrounding modernization of outdated human services technology systems, preventing federal SNAP and Medicaid cost shifts to counties.
Pope County Commissioner and AMC President, Larry Lindor says county leaders are public servants responsible for carrying out programs required by state and federal governments. He said officials came together to advance shared priorities on behalf of residents in all 87 Minnesota counties.
