“Basically, that’s if your income’s about 79,000 or less and you go on to the Department of Revenue website and look at free file. Also, free tax preparation sites that are around the state, you can go onto our website to see where those are.”
Department of Revenue Commissioner Paul Marquart says whether you file your own return, or have someone do it for you, double-checking for accuracy is critical…
“Make sure you enter the right name, spell the right dependents, have their Social Security or ITIN numbers. That’s always important. If you’re going to do direct deposit, make sure you double check your bank routing and account numbers.”
Both federal and state taxes need to be filed by April 15th. More filing tips are available on the Department of Revenue website.
