MN Energy Assistance Program Operational After Government Shutdown

Minnesota Department of Commerce officials say the federal government has released 112 million dollars to the state’s Energy Assistance Program.

Director Michael Schmitz says they’ve been waiting for the EAP funding…

“But they’re now available and they’re being distributed to help income eligible Minnesota homeowners and renters heat their homes this winter. So, we’re really, really relieved to have the funding and very happy to be able to get those funds out to help people.”

Schmitz says energy providers were getting worried about being able to help people as it gets colder.

More information is available on the Minnesota Department of Commerce website. Locally, residents may call Wright County Community Action in Maple Lake at; (320) 963-6500.
