(Minnesota Farm Bureau President Dan Glessing)
Minnesota farm groups were in Washington, D-C this past week, having discussions with lawmakers on agricultural issues.
Minnesota Farm Bureau President Dan Glessing says the MFB was well-represented at the meetings, and he feels made several points to lawmakers…
“We had 17 members that went out to D-C to share their voice and share that story…but all in all, our message was Farm Bill 2.0, let’s get this done. Farmers have been more than patient on this. Another issue that we were talking about is getting year-round E15 done. That could be a nice shot in the arm for these commodity prices. Obviously if corn goes up, it would likely take some other commodities up with it. And it really does make sense. It’s a clean air choice, the infrastructure for the most part is there. We also talked about the importance of getting a labor bill or labor reform going for those guest workers who come in and work and harvest the seasonal crops. But also we need that year-round aspect of it too as we look at some of the livestock folks.”
