MN Senate Leaders Share Message Before Next Session

Now that the Minnesota Senate is back to its full compliment of 67 members, Senate leaders are sharing a message that seems to point to a more civil way of conducting business for the people of the state.

Senator Erin Murphy is the DFL Senate Majority Leader…

“I want us to remember and remind and to say out loud we matter to each other and we need to look out for each other. We need to show Minnesotans that they can have faith in us together to do the work of the people with respect and with them in mind.”

Republican Senate Minority Leader Mark Johnson talked about the work ahead…

“It’s not the debate. It’s not the what’s going to be happening. It’s not going to be the partisanship. It’s going to be how we move this state forward into the next phase.”

Michael Holmstrom, Jr. of Buffalo and Amanda Hemmingsen-Jaeger of Woodbury were sworn-in this week in St. Paul. Holmstrom will represent Senate District 29 which represents much of Wright County and the some parts of border counties. Hemmingsen-Jaeger will represent Senate District 47.

Going into the 2026 session, Democrats still hold a 34-33 majority in the Senate.
