Monticello’s Lauren Hanson Takes Home State Championship in Gymnastics

Last year Lauren Hanson took third place in the All Around at the Class A State Gymnastics meet at Roy Wilkins Auditorium in St. Paul, but wasn’t satisfied.

“Last year people kept telling me great job on third place, but I wasn’t satisfied”, said Hanson. I would guess this year, she is! Hanson took home the state championship in the All Around with a total score of 37.475 on Saturday at Roy Wilkins. Her floor routine clinched the state championship.

On Friday, Hanson helped lead her team to a second place finish, just behind Detroit Lakes, and she said her teammates were huge supporters on Saturday, and she couldn’t believe when she was announced the winner. “I just started crying right away,” Hanson said. Offseason workouts and Track and Field really helped her prepare for this season, and only a Junior, Hanson will be back looking for a repeat next season.
