Hundreds of students in the area are headed back to school today with a brand new backpack stocked with school supplies furnished by Project Pencils.
Since 2016, Holly Saville of St. Michael and a crew of volunteers has been providing the supplies for students from families who may have difficulty meeting the costs associated with the yearly items needed.
Last year, 670 students were served by Project Pencils. This year, more than 400 donors and volunteers helped 865 students to have the tools they need to succeed.
To date, nearly 45-hundred kids have been helped by the tireless work of Project Pencils.
