A motorcyclist was arrested following a high-speed chase with law enforcement in Meeker County on Friday.
According to the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began at around 3:30 PM, when a deputy attempted to stop a motorcycle for for a traffic violation near Minnesota Highway 24 and Meeker County Road 2. The motorcyclist fled the scene. A pursuit ensued, spanning 30 miles and reaching speeds of over 100 miles per hour.
The bike went into the ditch at the intersection of County Road 23 and County Road 1. The motorcyclist then fled on foot before being detained. The rider, 38-year-old James Zaske of Buffalo Lake, is facing charges including Fleeing a Police Officer and Reckless Driving. According to the report, Zaske’s driving privileges had been previously canceled, and he was not allowed to drive.
Zaske is currently being held in the Meeker County Jail pending court appearances.
