A motorcyclist was critically injured late Sunday afternoon in a crash on Interstate 94 in Monticello.
The State Patrol reports that just before 5 PM, the eastbound Harley-Davidson went out of control, and the driver was thrown from the bike.
44-year-old Nicholas Opatz of Breckenridge sustained life threatening injuries and transported to North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale.
Authorities say the man was not wearing a helmet. Alcohol was not a factor according to the State Patrol.
The Wright County Sheriff’s Office, Monticello Fire Department, Minnesota DNR, and CentraCare Ambulance all assisted the State Patrol.
