A motorcyclist was critically injured late Sunday afternoon in a crash on Interstate 94 in Monticello.

The State Patrol reports that just before 5 PM, the eastbound Harley-Davidson went out of control, and the driver was thrown from the bike.

44-year-old Nicholas Opatz of Breckenridge sustained life threatening injuries and transported to North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale.

Authorities say the man was not wearing a helmet. Alcohol was not a factor according to the State Patrol.
