Outdoors enthusiasts should take note of possible lake aeration in the coming weeks on an area lake.
Officials with the Dean Lake Improvement Association advise the public that an aeration system may be in operation on the lake in January or February to help maintain fish populations.
If the system is activated, signs will be posted at the public access and surrounding the aeration site when the system is operating. Because of the area of open water created by aeration, extreme caution should be taken by fisherpersons, as well as hikers, skiers, snowmobilers and ATV operators throughout the remainder of the winter.
Officials say that testing of dissolved oxygen has begun to determine whether or not aeration is necessary.
