One Driver Killed When Two Semis Collide Near Eden Valley

A truck driver was killed when two semis collided Friday afternoon near Eden Valley in neighboring Meeker County.

The State Patrol reports that the crash happened just after 3 PM when a Kenworth truck that was stopped on eastbound Highway 55 was waiting to turn left into a driveway. Another eastbound Kenworth semi collided with the first truck, east of Lakewood Road in Manannah Township.

The driver of the second semi, 57-year-old David Hofstadter of Burtrum, Minnesota died in the crash. The driver of the first semi, 73-year-old Thomas Haag of Eden Valley, was not injured.

The Stearns and Meeker County Sheriff’s Departments, the Eden Valley Police, Fire and Rescue, and CentraCare Ambulance assisted at the scene.
