One person died, three others were injured when four vehicles were involved in a rear-end type traffic crash Wednesday evening in Monticello.
The State Patrol reports that around 7:20 PM, a Chevrolet Traverse SUV, a Ford F350 pickup, a Ford Focus passenger car, and a Freightliner semi-truck were all traveling eastbound on I-94 in Monticello at Milepost 194 when the crash occurred.
Killed in the crash was a passenger in Chevrolet SUV, 69-year-old Susan Rintoul of Minot, North Dakota. Authorities say she was not using a seat belt. The driver of the Chevy Traverse, 71-year-old Richard Rintoul, also of Minot, sustained non-life threatening injuries and was taken to North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale.
The driver of the Ford F350 pickup, a 41-year-old man from Carencro, Louisiana, had non-life threatening injuries and was treated at the CentraCare Hospital in Monticello.
The driver of the Ford Focus sedan, 24-year-old Gabrielle West of Hudson, Wisconsin, had non-life threatening injuries and was treated at Buffalo Hospital.
The driver of the semi, a 38-year-old man from Roseville, was not injured.
The Wright County Sheriff’s Office, the Monticello Fire Department, and CentraCare and Allina EMS teams assisted at the crash site.
