A groundbreaking ceremony was held in recent days at Odean Avenue and 75th Street Northeast in Otsego, the site of the future Otsego Fire & Emergency Services Station.

Despite becoming a city some 35 years ago, Otsego has never had a fire station of its own. Over the years, Otsego has had cooperative agreements with the cities of Albertville, Elk River and Rogers to provide fire and emergency services. Officials say as the city has grown to the largest in Wright County, the need to have fire and rescue operations closer to homes and businesses during emergency situations became more critical.

Construction on the new facility is expected to be completed in 2026, with the station opening for service in 2027.
