After a lengthy stretch of mild weather, we’re back to more wintery conditions in much of Minnesota, and here in Wright County.
Animal health experts remind everyone, if you’re cold, so is your pet. The Animal Humane Society’s Brittany Baumann says dogs should only spend a short time outdoors in single-digit weather…
“Their paws and their ears are especially vulnerable this time of year. And so with the paws it’s the cold and the salt and ice and the snow. And with their ears it’s just the cold in general, frostbite is what we’re worried about.”
She also says just like during very hot weather, pets shouldn’t be left in an unoccupied vehicle in bitterly cold temperatures either.
