“This includes calls targeting utility customers and demanding payments or impersonating company employees. It’s really common for scammers to try to pose as company representatives and claim that immediate payment is required to avoid service disconnections.”
If you think you’ve been targeted by a utility scam, you’re urged to call your utility provider and report the fraud to local law enforcement.
