The American Red Cross says blood supplies are nearing critical levels in some areas.
Officials are encouraging everyone to roll up a sleeve this summer and donate blood…
“You can safely donate blood every 56 days. So a lot of times donors donate once or twice a year, and that is fabulous, but if they donated more regularly and more often, that would probably help us avoid situations like we’re in now.”
Minnesota Red Cross spokeswoman Sue Thesenga says while it’s common for summertime blood donations to drop due to everyone’s busy schedule, she says it’s very important to make the effort to donate during the summer months.
