MnDOT is alerting motorists in the Wright County area of the temporary closure and detour of County Road 6, or 10th Avenue just north of the Highway 12 intersection in Howard Lake.
Officials say that crews made a last-minute decision in recent days to close the area to safely complete work on the northwest corner retaining wall.
Through traffic on County Road 6 is being detoured via Highway 12, Wright County Road 7, and 40th Street. MnDOT says local neighborhood access will remain available around the half-block closure using side streets. Signs will be posted with motorist instructions. The North County Road 6 access closure is expected to last through late September.

Meanwhile, crews continue their work on the Highway 12 re-build through Howard Lake, Montrose and Waverly. The project is entering its final phases, though drivers will continue to encounter narrow lanes, lane shifts and flaggers. Officials say access to businesses and homes continues to stay open via alternate entrances, side streets and sidewalk detours.
Final paving is planned for early October, and will occur under traffic with flaggers present. When completed in mid-October, MnDOT says the project will create smoother roads and will improve safety for drivers and pedestrians on Highway 12 through all three communities.
