Minnesota Senator Michael Holmstrom, Jr. of Buffalo and State Representative Joe McDonald of Delano visited with officials in the City of South Haven earlier this month and hosted the Minnesota Senate Capital Investment Committee as they reviewed the city’s request for funding for a critical water infrastructure project.
In a press statement, Holmstrom said that the city’s utility systems are in poor condition and in some cases are failing. Issues with the water system include bacteria and mold growth, issues with the city’s water tower, sanitary sewer piping and storm sewer infrastructure.
Holmstrom says the City of South Haven projects that repairs to the systems could force utility bills for city residents to nearly double without assistance.
Senator Holmstrom says other bonding priorities for Senate District 29 include funds to update aging infrastructure at the Wright Technical Center in Buffalo, and funds to help with upgrades to water infrastructure in the City of Howard Lake.
