Several Meeker County Lakes Under a No-Wake Ordinance

A number of lakes in neighboring Meeker County are under a no-wake zone ordinance.

Sheriff Brian Cruze enacted the no-wake zone within 500 feet of shore on Washington, Stella, Manuella, Minnie-Belle, Erie and Big Swan Lakes. A no-wake zone means watercraft must be operated at the slowest possible speed necessary to maintain steerage. The ordinance has been put into effect because of high water on the lakes due to the heavy rainfall this spring and early summer. Slower boat speeds will help to minimize any further shoreline erosion.

Sheriff Cruze says an earlier no-wake order remains in effect for Lake Arvilla. He says other Meeker County lakes are also being monitored.

Boaters are reminded to be watchful for debris in the water on lakes throughout the state, and to be respectful to properties on all lakes regardless of whether or not a no-wake zone has been established.
