The Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office says that they have been taking reports recently of county residents receiving phone calls from someone claiming that there is a warrant for their arrest due to failing to show up for jury duty.
In many cases, the callers ask for money to pay a fine associated with the warrant.
Sherburne County Sheriff’s Department officials say if you get a call suggesting anything like these scenarios…it is a scam. Officials say they would not call anyone to ask for money to resolve a warrant.
They advise all residents to never give money or financial information to anyone who says they are calling from the Sheriff’s Office.
They say the best option if someone calls you with a request like this is simply to hang up.
