Snow and Ice Contribute to Numerous Crashes Sunday

The snowy conditions that were preceded by freezing precipitation led to two noted crashes in the Wright County area on Sunday.

The State Patrol reports around 6:30 AM, an SUV collided with a pickup truck in Big Lake resulting in one of the drivers being injured. Authorities say a Nissan SUV was westbound on Highway 10 while a Ford pickup was eastbound. The vehicles collided at Eagle Lake Road.

The driver of the SUV, 22-year-old Brooke Marks of Ramsey sustained non-life threatening injuries. She was taken to Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids for treatment. The driver of the pickup, 59-year-old Scott Meyer of Champlin, was not injured. The Big Lake Police and Allina Ambulance assisted at the scene.

Later in the morning, snowy, icy roads contributed to a single-vehicle crash on westbound I-94 in Monticello Township that left a Twin Cities man injured. The State Patrol reports that just before 11 AM, a Toyota passenger car was westbound on the freeway when it lost control at Milepost 192 and crashed into the median.

The driver of the car, 52-year-old Issa Hussein of Faribault was not injured. A passenger in the vehicle, 42-year-old Hawo Adow of Minneapolis, was treated at the Monticello Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. CentraCare Ambulance assisted State Troopers at the scene.
