(Minnesota Farm Bureau President Dan Glessing)
Farm Bureau officials from across the country are meeting in Washington, D-C this week, and President Trump’s tariff proposals are weighing heavily on the conversation.
Minnesota Farm Bureau President Dan Glessing of Waverly says there’s no question that tariffs are on the minds of a lot of farmers…
“Well, certainly the tariff talk has got everybody kind of uneasy and trying to talk through that and strategy, especially coming into planting. You know, when we’re looking at phosphorus or the potash mines, there’s a lot of pressure on farmers on the input side of things, especially when commodity prices are where they’re at.
And so talking through some of that as well as these terminations in some of the local offices that really are farmer-facing that help farmers through these programs that are out there for them to utilize and really make their operation and the environment a better place.”
Late Thursday, the White House put a one month delay on a number of tariffs.
Dan Glessing is in Washington to participate in the American Farm Bureau’s resolutions process. He was re-elected to the American Farm Bureau Federation Board of Directors during the organization’s annual convention in San Antonio in late January.
