Inconsistent winter weather has resulted in thin ice near the north access of Buffalo Lake.
A close call thankfully resulted in no injuries and no major problems over the weekend when a truck pulling a trailer had a front wheel go through the ice.
Buffalo Fire Chief John Harnois says the front of the vehicle went down far enough that the rear was elevated. Officials say the situation did require assistance in pulling the vehicle out of the breech in the ice.

The incident does illustrate however that ice consistency is beginning to falter in parts of the listening area as fisherpersons prepare to bring in their ice houses. The Minnesota DNR says 11:59 PM on Monday, March 2nd is the deadline for fish houses to be removed from waters in the southern two-thirds of the state including Wright County. After March 2nd, ice fishing shelters may be used, but may not be left on the ice overnight.
The DNR emphasizes as always, that no ice is ever 100 percent safe.
