Two people were injured when two passenger cars collided Thursday afternoon in Monticello. The State Patrol says the crash happened shortly before 2 PM Thursday on State Highway 25 and School Boulevard in Monticello.

Officials say a Toyota passenger car was northbound on Highway 25, while a Chevrolet Impala was southbound on 25, and was preparing to turn left onto School Boulevard when the vehicles collided.

The driver of the Toyota, 21-year-old Javier Duarte of Buffalo sustained non-life threatening injuries and was treated at the Buffalo Hospital. A passenger in the Duarte vehicle, 21-year-old Marielbys Viloria of Buffalo had minor injuries that did not require hospital treatment.

The driver of the Chevy Impala, 17-year-old Francisco Martinez, and a passenger, 17-year-old Ayisa Martinez, both from Big Lake, were not injured.

Snow and ice were said to have been factors in the crash. The Wright County Sheriff’s Office and the Monticello Fire Department assisted State Troopers.
