Wet roads from continued rain may have contributed to two semi tractor trailers colliding on Interstate 94 near Monticello on Tuesday morning.
According to the State Patrol, a Volvo semi tractor trailer and a Freightliner tractor trailer were eastbound on I-94 when they collided, slid into the north ditch and struck an embankment. The two tractor trailers came to rest in a jack knife position. The crash happened shortly after 11 AM.
The driver of the Volvo, 58-year-old Peter Derezinski of Chicago, Il, and the driver of the Freightliner, 47-year-old Aden Haji of Eden Prairie, were both brought to Centra Care Hospital, each with non-life-threatening injuries.
Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts, and alcohol was not involved.
The State Patrol was assisted by Wright CSO, Allina Ambulance, Centra Care, and Monticello Fire Department and Ambulance.
