Governor Tim Walz purchased his deer hunting license Wednesday at the DNR headquarters, joining some 200,000 others who already have their licenses for the start of the firearms deer hunting season Saturday.
Walz says like other hunting and fishing seasons, it’s another big boost to the Minnesota economy…
“Outdoor activities in Minnesota are about a $13.7 billion dollar investment. They have a trickle effect. When you go into a community, it’s not just buying the firearms or buying the license that supports the DNR and all these other activities. It’s gassing up, it’s hotel rooms, it’s buying the equipment and all of the things that go with it.”
The governor says he’ll be hunting in the Cannon Falls area this weekend.
