Most of the state is enjoying a “White Christmas” on this Christmas Day 2025.
Pete Boulay with the State Climatology Office clears up what qualifies as a “White Christmas”…
“Yeah in order to have an official White Christmas is to have at least one inch of snow on the ground on Christmas morning.”
Boulay says most of the state had a nice snowpack until the recent warmup…
“Right now we’re looking at a situation where a good chunk of Minnesota will have a White Christmas. It might be a little patchy in places. The places that will see a brown Christmas for sure will be southwest Minnesota, pretty much anybody south and west of the Minnesota River.”
He says most of Minnesota had a White Christmas last year, following a brown Christmas with an inch of rain, and temps in the low 50s two years ago in 2023.
