Wright County Among Eight New Counties Added to Deer Feeding Ban

Wright County is among eight new counties recently added to the Minnesota DNR’s list of counties where a deer feeding and attractant ban is in place.

The ban is in place in areas where chronic wasting disease, or CWD was detected for the first time last year.

Officials with the DNR say the use of food or other attractants that could create a situation where deer would congregate more than they would in just casual contact in the wild is banned.

The hope is that by cutting down unnatural deer to deer contact, it will also cut down on the spread of specific proteins that can exist on plants and other surfaces for years.

Wright County, along with Anoka, Clay, Ramsey, Sherburne, Steele, Traverse and Wilkin Counties have been added to the deer feeding ban area that now includes 32 counties in Minnesota.
