Wright County Area HS Scores for the Week of Fri. Feb. 6th-Sat. Feb. 14th.

Girls Basketball.

Buffalo 76, Edina 67. Reese Millerbernd (26 points) did her work on the outside and on drives to the basket, while Brianna Eggers (26 points) did her work in the paint as the Bison avenged a 31 points loss earlier in the season with a win over the Hornets on Friday night.

It was youth night at Buffalo on Friday, as the Bison upset Edina at home.

Maple Lake 54, Eden Valley Watkins 48. Brooklyn Fobbe poured in 29 points in the Irish win.

Delano 71, New Ulm 59. Abbie Pietila did it all with 20 points, 7 boards, 6 assists and 6 steals in the Tigers win on Friday night.

Minnetonka 62, STMA 59. Cail Jahnke (20) and Jacey Bryan (15), combined for 25 points for STMA, but the Knights came up just short against #3AAAA Minnetonka.

Annandale 59, Rockford 38.

Monticello 84, Princeton 48.

Howard Lake WW 59, Litchfield 50.

Norwood YA 50, Dassel-Cokato 48.

Boys Basketball.

Buffalo 69, Buffalo 65. Brothers Thomas and Matthew Jordan combined for 42 points in the Bison Road win over the Hornets on Friday night.

Maple Lake 82, Chesterton 32.

Howard Lake WW 65, Litchfield 63. The Lakers held off a furious rally by the Dragons on Friday night. At one point the Lakers led by 25, but had to hang on for dear life to get the W.

Annandale 75, Rockford 58. The Cards rallied from a halftime deficit to win at Rockford.

Monticello 103, Princeton 75.

Monticello, above, was impressive on Friday night, putting up over 100 points in a win over Princeton on Friday.

Boys Hockey.

Delano 3, Lakeville South 3. Jackson Wollak scored two goals, including the game tying goal at the 12:26 mark of the third period as the Tigers tied Lakeville South on Friday night.

Girls Hockey.

Section 6AA Quarterfinals.

#3 River Cities 6, #3 North Wright County 1. Charlotte Heckendorf scored late in the first period to cut the Blades lead to 2-1, but it was all Blades as they scored the final four goals and advanced to the Section semifinals. Jane Semling netted two goals and two assists for the Blades, and River Cities outshot NWC 44-14 during the game.

Girls Wrestling.

Monticello advanced three girls to state from their Section. Rose Vennett and Jaime Bayliss both finished first in their weight class, while Phoebe Morris was second.

Courtney Kotish became the first Buffalo Bison female wrestler to advance to state by going 3-0 and taking first place at the 148-pound weight class in Section 8. Kotish dominated, winning twice by Tech fall and once by major decision.

Boys Hockey.

Buffalo 5, Hopkins 0. Russell Ylitalo had a hat trick and Aubrey Baker picked up the shutout win for Buffalo on Saturday.

Litchfield DC 1, Southwest Christian 1. Anton Haataja scored the tying goal at the 7:21 mark of the third period and Griffin Niska stopped 21 of 22 shots as the Dragons tied the Stars on Saturday.

Eden Prairie 5, STMA 1. Owen Volkenent gave the Knights a 1-0 lead in the first period, but the Eagles dominated the rest of the game in a Lake Conference matchup on Saturday.

Delano 77, Minneapolis Southwest 71. Bjorn Stewart scored 33 points in the Tigers win Saturday afternoon.

Monday, Feb. 9th.

Boys Basketball.

Brainerd 88, STMA 77. Aiden Gilbert scored 31 points and grabbed 8 rebounds as the Warriors rallied from a five-point halftime deficit to defeat the Knights.

New London Spicer 85, Rockford 65.

Girls Basketball.

Wayzata 80, STMA 50. Cail Jahnke was the top scorer for STMA in the loss with 15 points.

Tuesday, Feb. 10th.

Girls Basketball.

Delano 69, Buffalo 37. The Tigers pulled away for the road win on Tuesday night at Buffalo. Abbie Pietila scored 21 points with 9 boards and 6 assists. For Buffalo, Brianna Eggers had a double double with 17 points and 11 rebounds, and in the process went over 1,000 career points, and she is only a sophomore.

Dassel-Cokato 82, Rockford 80. Judsen Whittaker led the Chargers with 27 while Ethan Robran matched him with 27 for the Rockets, but it was DC who walked out of the gym with a two-point win in double overtime.

Annandale 80, Watertown Mayer 53. Colton Purcell scored 22 points in the Cards win.

Buffalo 81, Southwest Christian 77. The Bison rallied from a 7-point halftime deficit behind 28 points from Thomas Jordan and 26 from Matthew Jordan to pull out a road win at SWC.

Monticello 83, Cambridge Isanti 58. Carson Deibele was the top scorer for Monti with 22.

Paynesville 68, Maple Lake 52.

Delano 83, New Ulm 68.

Buffalo 5, STMA 3. Cooper and Mason Dalbec each scored two goals in the Bison win over their rivals from STMA. Braylen Maciej had a goal and two assists for the Knights in the loss.

Totino Grace 4, Monticello 1. The Eagles outshot the Moose, 34-24 on the night.

Hutch 3, Litchfield DC 2. The Tigers scored the game winner in overtime on Tuesday. Anton Haataja and Isaac Salmen scored the Dragons goals.

#2 Moorhead 47, #7 Buffalo 15.

Thursday, Feb. 12th.

Boys Basketball.

Maple Grove 81, Buffalo 61. #3AAAA Maple Grove pulled away from #5AAAA Buffalo on Thursday night in Buffalo, getting a little revenge after Buffalo won earlier in the year at Maple Grove. Matthew Jordan (23 points), Eli Hegle (20), and Thomas Jordan (13), combined for 56 of the 61 Bison points.

Annandale 73, Litchfield 62. #5AA Annandale defeated Litch on the road on Thursday night as Senior Guard Ben Walter scored 18 points with 8 rebounds and went over 1,000 points in his career for Annandale. Colton Purcell scored 25 to lead the Cards in scoring.

Glencoe SL 78, Rockford 71. Ian Faber was one of four players in double figures for the Rockets in the loss with 18 points.

Edina 75, STMA 48. Sekou Fofana was the leading scorer for STMA with 13.

PACT 61, Maple Lake 51.

Girls Basketball.

Maple Grove 63, Buffalo 52. The Crimson won at home on Thursday night over Buffalo, but it wasn’t easy. The Crimson ranked #3AAAA trailed at the half to Buffalo by two but pulled away behind Kate Holmquist’s 29 points. Brianna Eggers was the top scorer for Buffalo with 17.

Delano 9, Litchfield DC 0. Brady Kangas had three goals and two assists in the Tigers win.

Maple Grove 2, STMA 1. Easton Monahan tied the score for the Knights at the 5:30 mark of the third period, but the Crimson got the game winner just one minute later.
