Finals.

Foley 31, Becker 25. It came down to the final match, but #1 Foley survived over #2 Becker to advance to state at sections on Friday night held at Annandale HS.

Girls Basketball.

Maple Lake 45, Mill Lacs 21. Aleigha Jensen netted 14 points in the Irish win.

Monticello 61, St. Francis 28. Samantha Voll scored 31 points with 7 rebounds and 5 steals in the Magic blowout win.

Rockford 85, Litchfield 58. The Rockets offense was humming on Friday night, especially Jordyn Link who led the Rockets with 22 points.

Delano 88, Holy Family 53. Addie Iverson had 22 points and 7 rebounds as the Tigers cruised past the Fire on Friday.

Big Lake 81, Buffalo 69. Despite the loss, Brianna Eggers had a monster night for Buffalo with 35 points.

Monticello 73, St. Francis 50. Rhys Nebben was the high scorer for Monticello with 20 points.

Holy Family 83, Delano 81. Bjorn Stewart scored 22, but the Fire held off the Tigers on Friday night.

Monticello 3, Alexandria 0. Liam O’ Donnell scored two goals in the Moose shutout win.

Saturday, Feb. 14th.

Section 5 AA Gymnastics Results.

STMA took home the Section crown with a score of 143.4, while Rogers was second with a score of 137.2, Buffalo finished third with a score of 133.2. Avery LeMonds from STMA was the All-Around champ with a score of 37.9. Ella Hagelin of Osseo was second at 37.2, while Sadi Zachman (Rogers) was third with a score of 36.1.

STMA, above, led by Avery LeMonds who won the all-around are headed to state.

Section 8AA.

The defending state champs are headed back to state. Last year Monticello won the 1A state championship in Gymnastics but moved up to AA this season. No problem! The Magic are once again ranked #1 in AA and are headed back to state after scoring a 146.65 at the Section 8AA tournament on Saturday. The Magic broke the school record in the beam and defending state all around and individual champion Lauren Hanson took the all-around at Sections.

Monticello, above, the defending state champs in A, are headed back to state this year, except they have moved up to AA, and are ranked #1.

Boys Hockey.

Delano 3, Northfield 1. Brady Kangas scored two goals for Delano, while Evan Geyen stopped 27 of 28 shots in the Tigers win.

Buffalo 72, Rogers 52. Five players scored in double figures, led by Eli Hegle with 19 in the Bison Road win on Saturday.

Big Lake 84, STMA 79. Trevor Stukenholtz scored a game high 34 points in the Hornets win on Saturday.

STMA 65, Eden Prairie 48.

Monday, Feb. 16th.

Boys Basketball.

Morris 62, Annandale 52. #5AA Annandale led #2AA Morris, 28-27 at the half at home on Monday night, but the Tigers pulled away in the second half. Colton Purcell led Annandale with 25 points.

Girls Basketball.

Becker 78, Buffalo 57. Brianna Eggers (22 points) and Reese Millerbernd (20) were the leading scorers for Buffalo on a Monday matinee game, but it was the Bulldogs who picked up the win.

Tuesday, Feb. 17th.

Boys Hockey.

Section 5A Quarterfinals.

#1 Monticello 7, #8 Becker/BL 1. Ashton Stoll scored two goals in the Moose first round win.

Max Mattson, above, scored his first career goal in Monticello’s first round win over Becker/BL on Tuesday night.

#4 Sauk Rapids Rice 6, #5 Litchfield DC 5. Landon Corbin scored two goals and added an assist’s giving the Dragons a 5-3 lead in the third period, but it was SRR that scored the final three goals, including the game winner by Cullen Rock at the 15:49 mark of the third period.

Section 8AA Quarterfinals.

#2 STMA 6, #7 Brainerd 0. Braeden Waller scored two goals and added an assist, and Lucas Ingebritson picked up the shutout in net as the Knights advanced to the Section semifinals.

Boys Basketball.

Monticello 91, North Branch 56. Rhys Nebben (26 points) and Carson Deibele (23) were the top scorers in the Magic blowout win.

Buffalo 69, Minnetonka 61. Thomas Jordan scored 28 points in the Bison home win.

Princeton 87, Delano 73. Elijah Engesser netted 21 for Delano, but it was Princeton who won the battle of the Tigers.

Maple Grove 93, STMA 59. Aidan Nowak scored 16 points for the Knights in the loss.

Girls Basketball.

Delano 69, Jordan 57. Addie Iverson helped the Tigers breeze past the Jaguars with 27 points.

With their win over Jordan on Tuesday night, the Delano Tigers girl’s basketball team, above, won their third straight Wright County Conference Championship.

Maple Grove 71, STMA 57. Cail Jahnke led the Knights with 19 points, while Kaylie Bigalke added 16 for STMA in the loss.

Monticello 92, North Branch 10. Samantha Voll outscored the Vikings, 31-10 in the Magic domination on Tuesday night.

Section 6AAA Quarterfinals.

#4 Wayzata 5, #5 Buffalo 2. Brandon Rodenwald gave the Bison a 1-0 after one period in the 6AA Quarterfinals at Wayzata on Wed. night. The Trojans scored the first two goals of the second period, but Evan Hinnenkamp tied for Buffalo early in the third. After that Wayzata scored the final three goals, two by Kruz Sauer and the Trojans advanced to the semifinals of the section. The Trojans outshot the Bison 26-17 on the night.

Thursday, Feb. 19th.

Boys Hockey.

Section 2A Quarterfinals.

#1 Delano 6, #8 Waconia 0. Jackson Wollak scored from the blue line just one minute into the game on a power play and the Tigers were never threatened after that. Wollak finished with a goal and an assist, while Brody Geislinger scored a goal and added two assists in the Tigers shutout. Delano outshot Waconia, 43-12 on the night.

Girls Basketball.

Providence 77, Monticello 75. In a battle of premier high school players in the state, Maddyn Greenway (Kentucky recruit), scored 36 points, while Samantha Voll (St. Thomas recruit) scored 31 points, as the Lions won a thriller over Monticello on Thursday night. Greenway a Senior for Providence is the second all-time leading scorer in the state of Minnesota.

Delano 66, Two Rivers 44. Abie Pietila (17 points), Lexi Champeau (16) and Addie Iverson (16), combined for 49 points in the Tigers win.

Lester Prairie 62, Maple Lake 42. Aleigha Jensen led the Irish with 12 points, but it was 35 points from Anah Lee from the Bulldogs that was the difference in the game.

Watertown Mayer 75, Rockford 53.
