Annandale 78, Watertown Mayer 55. Gabe Westman scored 24 of his 28 points in the second half as the Cards pulled away from the Royals.

Owen Pederson, above #11, guards a Watertown Mayer player on Friday night. The Cards defeated the Royals, 78-55.

Monticello 69, Cambridge Isanti 59. Rhys Nebben and Carson Deibele each scored 18 points in the Magic win.

Girls Basketball.

Rockford 83, Dassel-Cokato 77. Alyssa Gilman (19 points) and Riley Freed (18) led the way for the Rockets.

Delano 53, Jordan 50. Abbie Pietila had a monster night for the Tigers with 21 points, 10 boards and 6 steals.

Monticello 86, Cambridge I 44. Samantha Voll (30 points), Parker Haffeman (17) and Abby Ruda (17) combined for 64 points in the Magic win.

Eden Prairie 67, Buffalo 48. Brianna Eggers scored half the Bison points with 24 in the loss.

Saturday, January 10th.

Monticello, above, had a great day at the Eden Prairie Girls Wrestling invite on Saturday, as Rose Verrett finished 1st, Phoebe Morris and Jaelynn Kirten both finished third in their wight class and Jaime Bayliss was 5th in her weight class.

Boys Hockey.

Buffalo 3, STMA 2. Russell Ylitalo scored two goals in the Bison Road win, including the game winner at the 15:43 mark of the third period.

Delano 5, Holy Family 4. Connor Oja scored in overtime as the Tigers beat the Fire on the road on Saturday. Oja had a goal and two assists on the day.

St. Cloud Cathedral 3, Monticello 1. In a rematch of last year’s Section 8A finals, the #7A Crusaders came back to beat the #3A ranked Moose on Saturday. Ashton Stoll gave the Moose a 1-0 lead in the second period, but the Crusaders scored three in the third to pull away.

Litchfield DC 9, Prairie Center 2. Landon Corbin, and Brody Berggren each scored two goals and added an assist in the Dragons win.

Girls Hockey.

Edina 2, North Wright County 1. Kendell Ringat scored in the second period to tie it for the River Hawks, but the Hornets scored in the third to escape the upset attempt by NWC. McKenna Sale stopped 29 of 31 shots for NWC against the #5AA Hornets.

Maple Grove 2, Buffalo 1. Ella Bruns scored in the first period to give the Bison the lead, but the Crimson scored the final two goals to pick up the home win. Tessa Quale stopped 28 of 30 shots for the Bison.

Hutch 2, Delano 1. Maci Geyen scored in the second to tie it for Delano, but Hutch scored the final goal to get the victory. Sydney Ross stopped 30 of 32 shots for Delano.

STMA 48, Sioux Falls Christian 42. The Knights won the “Border Battle” matchup at the Pentagon in Sioux Falls on Saturday afternoon.

Delano 67, Willmar 40. Addie Iverson netted 15 points to go along with 8 rebounds and 4 steals in the Tigers Road win.

Tuesday, January 13th.

Girls Basketball.

Minnetonka 84, STMA 70. The Knights jumped out to a quick lead, 11-5, but it evaporated quickly as the Skippers led by as many as 33 in the second half. The Knights cut it all the way down to 10 points in the final minutes but came up short at home. Cail Jahnke who is headed to Colorado to play hoops scored 34 for the Knights and Jensen Rogers who didn’t play one minute in the first half sparked the Knights rally with a quick 7 points off the bench midway through the second half. The Skippers, #2 in AAAA improved to 13-1, while the Knights dropped to 6-7.

Monticello 75, St. Francis 40. Samantha Voll had another big game with 24 points for the Magic.

Delano 79, Mound 27. Kali Schultz scored 18 points and added 5 rebounds in the Tigers romp.

Watertown Mayer 74, Dassel-Cokato 70 in OT.

Atwater Cosmos GC 42, Maple Lake 36. Aleigha Jensen led the Irish with 14 points.

Edina 82, Buffalo 51.

Norwood YA 72, Howard Lake WW 31.

Buffalo 83, Edina 78. Matthew Jordan scored a career high 31 points in the Bison home win over Edina.

Monticello 81, St. Francis 61. The Magic rallied from an eight-point halftime deficit, outscoring the Saints, 49-21 in the second half. Five players scored in double figures, led by Rhys Nebben with 19.

Watertown Mayer 76, Dassel-Cokato 58. Judson Whittaker scored 24 points for the Chargers in the loss.

Glencoe Silver Lake 107, Rockford 90. Ethan Sonju and Lincoln Busse, each scored an incredible 44 points in the Panthers win! Ian Faber wasn’t too bad either with 31 for the Rockets in a wild game at GSL.

Minnetonka 81, STMA 58. The Knights led by one at the half, but the Skippers outscored STMA, 52-28 in the second half. Sekou Fofana (17 points), and Maverick Maros (18) were the top scorers for the Knights.

Norwood YA 77, Howard Lake WW 72.

Mankato East 90, Delano 54. Nate Nielson scored 15 for the Tigers.

Holdingford 79, Maple Lake 30.

Buffalo 8, Brainerd 1. Jaxson Murphy and Cooper Dalbec each scored two goals for the Bison, as Buffalo had a five goal second period in their road win on Tuesday.

Monticello 5, Pine City 2. Brady McGriff scored two goals and added an assist as the Moose won for the 10th time in 11 games.

Elk River 5, STMA 4. The Knights lost their second straight heartbreaker after the Elks tied it late in the third and won it in OT. Braeden Waller scored a goal and also had an assist for the Knights.

Girls Hockey.

Edina 8, North Wright County 1. The River Hawks almost upset the #5AA Hornets on Saturday, but this time it was all Edina on Tuesday night at STMA, as the Hornets outshot the River Hawks, 61-10.

Wayzata 5, Buffalo 0. The Trojans scored four goals in the third to pull away from the Bison on Tuesday.

Hopkins 2, Litchfield DC 1. Greta Aho stopped 34 or 36 shots in the loss for LDC.

Dance.

Delano won the high kick competition at their dance meet on Tuesday night.

Thursday, January 15th.

Girls Basketball.

Monticello 69, Crosby-Ironton 63. The Magic overcame a nine-point halftime deficit to tie the game at the buzzer on a layup by Samantha Voll, then pulled away in overtime for the thrilling win. Voll, who is headed to St. Thomas next year led the Magic with 24 points. Tori Oehrlein, who will be a Golden Gopher next year and is battling Maddy Greenway from Providence for the all-time scoring record in Minnesota HS history scored 34.

Delano 76, Southwest Christian 67. Abbie Pietila (22 points) and Addie Iverson (20), combined for 42 in the Tigers win.

Hopkins 71, Buffalo 35. Brianna Eggers was the top scorer with 9 points in the Bison loss to #1AAAA Hopkins.

Boys Basketball.

Annandale 75, Norwood YA 40. Ben Walter hit six three pointers and scored 22 points as the Cards crushed the Raiders on Thursday.

Southwest Christian 82, Delano 58. Four players scored in double figures for the Tigers in the loss, led by Ben Tellers and Bjorn Stewart who each had 14.

Wayzata 2, North Wright County 0. The #7 Trojans shut out the River Hawks on Thursday night, but it wasn’t easy as McKenna Sale was outstanding in the net for NWC.

Buffalo 2, Robbinsdale Armstrong 2. Senji Niemela and Bridgit Kotish scored the two Bison goals in their tie with the Falcons.

Hutch 5, Delano 1. Avery Ross scored the lone Tigers goal.

Eden Prairie 5, Buffalo 2. Cooper Dalbec had a goal and an assist in the loss for Buffalo.
