Friday, October 10th.

Football.

Delano 26, Orono 21. Bryce Beyer rushed for 131 yards, including a 57-yard game winner in the fourth quarter as the Tigers upset top 10AAAA Orono on Friday.

Spring Lake Park 21, Buffalo 7. The Panthers jumped out to a 21-0 lead, and after a couple of goal line stands in the second half held of the Bison for a key road win on Friday. The lone Bison TD came on a five-yard TD pass from Grant Benson to Hendrix Gatz in the third quarter.

STMA 29, Moorhead 27. Ty Haring contributed four TD’s, three passing and one rushing as the Knights won on the road at Moorhead. Elijah Lewis caught two of those TDs from Haring, and Wyatt Mosher rushed for 154 yards for the Knights.

Dassel-Cokato 42, Holy Family 35. It’s October, which usually means here come the Chargers! Their running game ran over #8AAA Holy Family on Friday to pick up the upset win.

Maple Lake 46, West Central Area 16.

Annandale 56, Milaca 6. Facing third and fourteen at their own one-yard line on their first possession the Cards didn’t panic, they just completed a 99-yard TD pass from Michael Kovall to Colton Purcell to set a school record, and the rout was on as Annandale rolled over the Wolves.

Howard Lake WW 28, Watertown Mayer 21.

Pierz 34, Rockford 0.

Saturday, October 11th.

Girls Soccer.

Section 8AAA Semifinals.

#1 STMA 2, #4 Brainerd 1. Emma Kvant scored early in the second half and that goal held up as the Knights advanced to the semifinals.

#2 Buffalo 1, #3 Bemidji 0. Sophie Alderman netted the game winning goal late in the second half and the Bison are headed back to the section finals for the third straight year.

Section 6AA.

#2 Monticello 3, #3 Becker 1. Kayden Kouril scored a goal and added an assist for the Magic in their semifinal win.

#1 St. Francis 2, #4 Delano 0. Remington Dehaan had a goal and an assist in the Saints win.

Volleyball.

STMA Invite.

Results for Wright County Area Teams.

Delano: Finished second, losing to Maple Grove in the finals, 22-25, and 23-25.

Delano, above, finished second at the STMA Invite.

Monticello finished sixth, going 3-2. Alyana Opatz had nine kills, and Addison Konz had nine assists for Monti in their win over STMA.

STMA finished eighth as the home team, going 2-0 on Friday and 0-3 on Saturday.

Annandale went 3-2 good for 11th place. The Cards came close to upsetting ranked Rogers in their fourth match, but came up just short, 18-25, 25-23, and 14-16.

Buffalo finished 21st and Rockford went 1-5.

Girls Swim and Dive.

5A True Team Sections.

Monticello is advancing to the True Team state meet by winning the 5A True Team Sections on Saturday. The Magic finished with 1493 points, while Becker was second with 1315. Finishing in first place for the Magic were Addylyn Biegler in the 100 back and 200 IM. Ella Vagle in the 50 and 100 free. Chloe Schwietering in the one-meter dive, and Samantha Urick the 100 fly. The Magic also finished first in the 200 and 400 relay. The Magic will compete at True Team state on October 16th at the U of M Aquatic Center on the U of M campus.

Girls Tennis.

The doubles team of Samantha Voll, and Julia DeChene from Monticello lost in the second round of sections to Addison and Kennedy Stevenson as their fantastic season came to an end.

Monday, October 13th.

Girls Volleyball. 

Delano 3, Annandale 1. In a battle of top ten teams in AAA, Annandale won the first set at home, but the Tigers took the next three to win on the road on Monday night.

Tuesday, October 14th.

Boys Soccer, Section Finals.

Section 8AAA.

#1 Buffalo 5, #2 Alexandria 1. The Bison remained undefeated and are headed to state for the first time since 2004 after defeating the Cards on Tuesday night. Owen Seestrom scored the first and final goals in the Bison rout.

Section 6AA.

Delano defeats Orono in the Section finals in a shootout to advance to state!

Delano is headed to state in soccer after a shootout win over Orono at Zimmerman on Tuesday night.

Girls Soccer, Section Finals.

Section 8AAA.

#1 STMA 1, #2 Buffalo 0. The Knights won in a shootout, 3-1 after going scoreless for two halves and two overtimes. Derham, Otto, and Radloff scored the goals for the Knights in the shootout, while Alderman scored for the Bison. Briana Hartnett stopped three of four shots she faced in the shootout for STMA. The Knights are going to state for the fourth straight year, and the last three including this year they defeated Buffalo in the finals.

Section 6AA.

#1 St. Francis 2, #2 Monticello 1. Kendell Metso scored with 34 minutes left to give the Magic the lead, but the Saints scored with 12 minutes to go and won it in a shootout to advance to state.

Volleyball. (Still regular season.)

Annandale 3, Howard Lake WW 2. The Cards won a thriller, 24-26, 25-20, 25-18, 23-25 and 15-13.

Dassel-Cokato 3, Holy Family 1. The Chargers dropped the first set but won the final three to pick up the win.

Watertown Mayer 3, Rockford 0.

Belgrade BE 3, Maple Lake 0.

Princeton 3, Buffalo 0.

Cross Country.

The Delano boys and girls both took first place at the Wright County Conference meet on Tuesday.

Girls Tennis.

Bryn Spanier, Eva Huotari, and Maddie Ring all advanced to state as individuals for Delano at sections. State is October 21st in Bloomington.

The Tigers are sending three individuals to the state tournament later this month in Bloomington.

Girls Swim and Dive.

Monticello finished a perfect dual season with a 99-82 win over Buffalo. Adalyn Biegler set four new pool records for Monti tonight in the 200 free, 100 fly, 50 free and 100 free.

Wed., October 15th.

Football.

Buffalo 45, Park Center 8. The Bison dominated at every level in their win over PC. On offense, Grant Benson ran for a touchdown and threw a 41-yard TD to Jackson Coss. On defense Tony Jordan returned a fumble for a at TD, and on special teams, Hendrix Gatz returned a punt 62 yards for a TD, and kicker, Jacob Hahessy kicked two field goals from 39 and 35 yards for Buffalo.

Monticello 43, Bemidji 30. The Lumberjacks led 30-27 going into the fourth quarter, but Cale Holthaus scored form one yard out, and Cole Mueller scored from 45 yards out as the Magic rallied to the victory. The Magic rushed for 384 yards in the win getting five TDs combined from Holthaus (3) and Mueller (2).

Annandale 38, Jordan 7. The Cards dominant passing game has been the story all year long, but tonight at Jordan they turned to Cam Ergen, Rylan Horsch, and Isiah Turner to run over and around the Hubman to finish the regular season undefeated at 8-0.

Howard Lake WW 42, Montevideo 6. Raydon Graham returned both a kick and punt for touchdowns and Alex Stueven finished with nine tackles and two sacks on defense as the Lakers finished the regular season 6-2.

Litchfield 38, Dassel-Cokato 8. Anthony Taylor rushed for 246 yards and two TD’s, while QB Alex Medina rushed for 208 yards and five TD’s as the Dragons ran roughshod over the Chargers with 514 yards on the ground as Litch cruised on Wed. night.

Stewartville 39, Delano 3. Bryce Byer (86) yards and Carter Von Beuskom (48) combined for 134 of the 166 total yards for Delano on Friday night as Stewartville’s defense dominated Delano.

Browerville 12, Maple Lake 6.

Holy Family 17, Rockford 8. The Rockets played another strong defensive game but came up short against the Fire.
