Friday, Sept. 19th.

Football.

Maple Lake 38, Benson 14. The Irish scored fifty-two points all last year, but this year in the last two weeks alone the Irish have scored eighty-six! With the homecoming win, the Irish improved to 3-1.

Buffalo 27, Armstrong 21. Grant Benson continued is dominant season for Buffalo, throwing for 271 yards and rushing for eighty-six, and added three TD’s as the Bison won their third straight. Matthew Jordan clinched the game with a late interception for Buffalo, while Jackson Coss added four receptions for fifty yards and two TDs.

Delano 28, Big Lake 6. Bryce Beyer rushed for 242 yards and two TD’s as the Tigers dominated on the ground with 450 total yards. Isaac Miller led a stout D for Delano with ten tackles and an interception.

Annandale 49, Watertown Mayer 0. The Cards #1AAA continued to roll with a shutout victory over the Royals on Homecoming. Annandale has now outscored their opponents 164-6 with the starters in this season. This week Annandale travels to #4AAA Holy Family in a battle of top five teams.

Rockford 28, Milaca 8. Cody Miller tossed two TD’s and Bradley Graunke rushed for 57 yards and a TD, while adding 12 tackles on defense as the Rockets picked up their first win of the season.

Howard Lake WW 12, Morris 6. Hunter Bush threw two TD’s, both in the first half, including a 45 yarder to Timmy Webber as the Lakers won a defensive battle with Morris on Friday.

Monticello 30, St. Francis 15. The Magic pulled away from the Saints on Friday, to improve to 3-1. Cole Schwickerath had two sacks on defense for Monti.

New London Spicer 20, Dassel-Cokato 14.

Eden Prairie 37, STMA 13. Ty Haring hit Dylan Faucher with a 70-yard TD pass, while Zach Marble kicked two field goals to keep the Knights in the game, only trailing 19-13. In the end though it was too much Owen Konrad for EP, as Konrad rushed for 158 yards and three TDs.

Saturday, September 20th.

Roy Griak Invite.

The Roy Griak Invite at Les Bolstad golf course at the U of M is one of the biggest cross-country events in the upper Midwest, not only for high school athletes, but college athletes as well. This past weekend many Wright County athletes took to the course, and it was a good weekend! Individually, Isabella Mahoney from Monticello took first place in the Girls Gopher 5K with a time of 19:11.0. Meanwhile in the girl’s championship 5K, Mackenzie Myran from STMA took 12th with a time of 19:06.6. On the boy’s side, Emery Wirth from Annandale was 22nd in the Boys Championship 5K with a time of 16:36.5. As a team the STMA girls finished fourth in the girl’s championship 5K, while the Monticello girls finished 7th in the Gopher 5K. Below are all the results from Wright County Area athletes at the Roy Griak Invite.

Boys Results.

Annandale: As a team finished 33rd in Boys Championship 5K. Individually, Emery Wirth was 22nd with a time of 16:36.5

Buffalo: Tristan Lenton was 53rd in Boys Champ 5K with a time of 16:59.7

STMA: Ben Raisanen finished 94th in the Boys Champ 5K with a time of 17:29.6.

Girls Results.

STMA: The Knights finished 4th in the girl’s championship 5K. Individually, Mackenzie Myran was 12th, Abigayle Vossen, 53rd, Sophie Miller, 66th, Delanie Brand, 76th, Anabelle Vossen, 81st, and Ady Hannen, 90th.

Monticello: The Magic finished 5th at the Gopher 5K, individually, Isabella Mahoney was the champion with a time of 19.11.0. Lauren Rengel was 32nd, Braylen Hanson, 61st, and Olivia Metzger, 91st.

Annandale: The Cards finished 30th in the Girls marathon as a team, with Sonia Millner as the top finisher for Annandale with a time of 22:06.3, good for 56th.

 

Boys Soccer.

STMA 1, Monticello 1. Spencer Timlin scored the Knights goal in their tie with the Magic.

Delano 4, Orono 1. Delano scored on four of eight shots in their win over the Spartans.

Girls Soccer.

STMA 3, Monticello 0.

Volleyball.

Dassel-Cokato went 2-2 at the Sibley East classic, with wins over Tracy Milroy B, and Gibbon Fairfax Winthrop, while losing to Norwood YA and Zumbrota-M.

Pierz swept Maple Lake, 2-0 in the Pioneer Classic at Pierz this weekend.

Monday, September 22nd.

Girls Soccer.

STMA 4, Sartell 0. Emma Kvant scored two goals in the Knights shutout.

Monticello 2, Chisago Lakes 0.

Boys Soccer.

Monticello 5, Chisago Lakes 2. Caleb Vagle scored three goals and added an assist for the Magic.

Buffalo 2, Rogers 1. Reid Poser and Owen Seestrom scored the two Bison goals, as Buffalo won on the road against #10AA Rogers on Tuesday.

Delano 1, Watertown-Mayer 0. Niko Moore scored the lone goal in the game as Delano defeated the Royals on Tuesday.

Jordan 10, Rockford 2.

Watertown-Mayer 3, Delano 0.

Howard Lake WW 3, Maple Lake 2. The Lakers won a thriller over the Irish in a match that literally went down to the last serve, 20-25, 25-16, 25-14, 23-25, and 16-14.

Delano 3, Chanhassen 0. The Tigers swept the Storm, 25-19, 25-20, and 25-19.

Rockford 3, Coon Rapids 0. The Rockets swept past the Cards, but it wasn’t easy, 25-21, 25-21, and 27-25.

Annandale 3, Dassel-Cokato 0. The Cards rolled in three, outscoring the Chargers, 75-47.

Buffalo 3, Monticello 0. The Bison went on the road and played their best match of the year in the sweep of the Magic.

Thursday, September 25th.

Boys Soccer.

Buffalo 1, Minnetonka 1. Cade Nissen scored in the first half for Buffalo, but John Albright tied it in the second half as the Skippers and Bison tied in their much-anticipated matchup. The Skippers came in ranked #1AA while Buffalo was #2. The Bison had a chance to win late, but Alexander Albright made a leaping save off of the foot of Owen Seestrom, as the Skippers survived with a tie.

Girls Soccer.

Monticello 2, Becker 2. Kayden Kouril scored the opening goal of the game for the Magic, and Annabelle Castro finished the scoring as the Magic tied the Bulldogs.

Minnetonka 3, Buffalo 0. Avri Udupa netted a hat trick in the Skippers win.

The Bison in black, lost to Lake Conference rival Minnetonka on Thursday night.

Rockford 2, Mound 1.

Edina 2, STMA 1.

Volleyball.

Minnetonka 3, Buffalo 0. The Skippers swept the Bison on the road, 25-11, 25-17, and 25-22. The serving of Vivian Henkemeyer, and the size of Rorey Schoen, and Katherine Anderson were too much for Buffalo. Kendra Harris was solid, leading the Bison in kills with her outstanding leaping ability.

STMA 3, Edina 0. The Knights had little trouble with the Hornets, winning 25-13, 25-12, and 25-18.

Annandale 3, New London Spicer 1. After dropping the first set 25-23, the Cards rolled, 25-21, 25-18, and 25-19.

Monticello 3, Big Lake 0. It was all Magic, outscoring the Hornets, 75-41.

Atwater CGC 3, Maple Lake 2.

Dassel-Cokato 3, Glencoe SL 2. Down 2-1, the Chargers won the final two sets, 25-18, and 15-11.

Delano 3, Southwest Christian 0.

Howard Lake WW 3, Norwood YA 0.

Cross Country.

The Delano boys team took first place, while the girls took fourth at Collinwood.

Girls Tennis notes.

The Monticello won the Mississippi 8 on Thursday, while Delano received the #2 seed in Section 5AA, and will host Zimmerman in the first round, on Tuesday, September 30th.
