Wright County Area HS Scores for the Week of Mon. April 7th-Sat. April 12th.

Tuesday, April 8th:

Softball

Monticello 8, Buffalo 4, The Magic pulled away with a three run fifth to win their opening game of the season. Paige Flanagan went 4-4 with a double and two RBI, while Emma McLeod went 2-4 with a triple and two RBI for the Magic. Kenley Bechtold went 2-3 with a double and an RBI in the loss for the Bison.

Howard Lake WW 5, Litchfield 2. Heber and Barnes drove in early runs as the Lakers defeated the Dragons.

Delano 12, De La Salle 1. Sidney and Kaitlyn Pink combined to go 5-8 with 5 RBIs as the Tigers rolled over the Islanders. Kaitlyn also struck out 10 in a complete game win for Delano.

Baseball

Rockford 11, Royalton 2. The defending AA state champs got off to a great start with and easy win on opening day as Patrick Binnebose went 3-4 with 3 RBI at the dish for the Rockets.

Howard Lake WW 4, Litchfield 1. Loge went six innings giving up just one hit in the win for the Lakers.

Annandale 11, Eden Valley Watkins 5. The Cards pulled away with an eight-run 4th to defeat the Eagles. After missing last year with an injury, Brandon Cooper went 4-4 with two doubles at the plate for the Cards.

Annandale, above, had a big 4th inning to blow past Eden Valley Watkins in their season opener on Thursday.

Buffalo 4, Waconia 3. The Bison opened up their season with an upset win over #10AAA Waconia.

Dassel-Cokato 13, Kimball 6.

Wed, April 9th:

Baseball

Wayzata 5, Buffalo 4. The Bison led the #1AAA Trojans 4-1 with two outs in the seventh inning but couldn’t hold on as the Trojans won in extra innings, wasting a great start by Aiden Marconett who went 6.2 innings while only allowing one run.

STMA 2, Eden Prairie 0.

Softball.

STMA 8, Elk River 1. Amanda Odlund hit a three-run home run in the first inning for the Knights and that would be all they needed in their opening game win over the Elks.

Thursday, April 10th:

Softball

STMA 4, Eden Prairie 3. The Eagles jumped on the Knights for three runs in the top of the first, but the Knights came back to win in the bottom of the seventh on a walk off wild pitch. Trailing 3-1 in the seventh, Cam Dubel singled to cut the lead to 3-2, then Lacey Byboth grounded out, but it got the tying run in. With an 0-2 count to Kendra Behrens and pinch runner Caylee Casey on third the Eagles pitcher threw the first wild pitch of the whole game and Casey scored the winning run, giving the Knights a 2-0 record on a cold and windy wet day at STMA.

Wayzata 16, Buffalo 6. Alayna Feekes hit a two-run home run in the loss for Buffalo.

Cambridge-Isanti 11, Monticello 4. Paige Flanagan remained hot at the plate, with a 3-3 day including a home run and 3 RBIs in the Magic loss.

Howard Lake WW split two games, defeating New London Spicer 10-3 in the opener, before losing to LeSueur Henderson in the second game 16-4.

St. Cloud Cathedral 9, Annandale 6.

Delano 25, St. Anthony 0.

Baseball

Monticello 21, Cambridge-Isanti 3. The Magic had a monster 13 run third inning and blew away the Bluejackets on Thursday. Cale Holthaus and Hunter Miller each drove in three for the Magic.

New London Spicer 12, Howard Lake WW 2.

Buffalo 12, Sauk Rapids Rice 2.

Girls Lacrosse

Monticello 16, St. Cloud 12. Addison Kiphuth got the Magic off to a great start to the season with eight goals and three assists.

Addison Kiphuth, above, scored a school record eight goals in a single game in the Magic win over St. Cloud.

Boys Lacrosse

Monticello 13, St. Cloud 6.

Notes:

Monticello girls won their opening meet in Track and Field at St. Francis on Tuesday, while the Magic boy’s tennis team is off to a 3-0 start with wins over St. Cloud Tech, Chisago Lakes and Foley.
