Girls Basketball.
STMA 66, Fargo Davies 57. Cail Jahnke scored 23 points to lead the Knights to a victory in Fargo on Saturday.
Alex 77, Delano 61. Abbie Pietila scored 25, while Cassie Wegman added 12 points 8 rebounds for the Tigers, but it wasn’t enough to knock off the Cards on Saturday.
Boys Hockey.
Delano 3, Northfield 0. Jacob Perlich scored the game winning goal in the second period, and Evan Geyen was outstanding in the nets stopping all 31 shots he faced as the Tigers shutout the Raiders, despite being outshot 31-14.
Gymnastics notes:
STMA advanced to state for the fourth straight year out of Section 5AA with a score of 142.77. Rogers was second with a score of 141.2, while Buffalo finished 3rd with 136.5
Lydia Field (Bars), and Macy DuBois (Floor), advanced to state for Buffalo.

Buffalo 94, Andover 82. Jordy Sorenson was the high scorer with 34 points as the Bison outran the Huskies on Monday night.

Boys Hockey Playoffs.
Section 5A
#1 Monticello 8, #8 Becker/BL 0. Liam O’Donnell scored two goals and added two assists, while Landon Scherber scored two goals and had an assist as the Moose advanced to the semifinals. Monticello outshot Becker/BL, 43-4.

Delano 86, Hutch 26. Addie Iverson almost scored as many points, 20, as the whole Hutch team scored as a team in Delano’s blowout win.
Eden Prairie 77, Buffalo 48. Cyre Otto and Brianna Eggers each scored 10 points in the Bison loss.
Annandale 70, Dassel-Cokato 61. Julia Bishop, a Sr., had a big Senior night with 31 points in the Cards win.

Boys Basketball.
Hopkins 77, STMA 62. Hudson Hochstedler (20 points), Jack Thelen (16), Jack Thelen (13), and Jeremiah Johnson (11) scored all but two of the Knights points in their loss at Hopkins.
Eden Prairie 67, Buffalo 57. Max Lorenson led the Eagles with 32 in the EP win, while Jordy Sorenson was the only Bison player to reach double figures with 11.
Delano 86, Hutch 42.
Annandale 84, Dassel-Cokato 57. Colton Purcell (23) and Ben Walter (22) combined for 45 points in the Cards win.

Section 2A Quarterfinals.
#2 Delano 6, Mound 1. The Tigers outshot Mound 46-15 to advance to the Section semifinals. Jackson Wollak led the way for Delano with a goal and two assists.

Thursday, Feb. 20th.
Girls Basketball.
Monticello 67, Becker 60. The Monticello Magic won their first conference championship since 1987 on Thursday night with a win over their rivals from Becker. Samantha Voll led the way with 26 points, while Addison Ruda (16) and Aubrey Krienke(15) also had big games for Monticello, the #1 ranked team in the state in AAA.

Rockford 57, Litchfield 53. Riley Freed and Kaycie Roggenkamp each scored 15 points for the much-improved Rockets.

Monticello 74, Becker 62. It was a big night for the Monticello boys basketball team. With their victory over Becker, the Magic took home their first Mississippi 8 championship since 2006, and Sr. Jackson Soroko went over 1,000 points for his career, with 17 points. Trevon Singer and Carson Deibele also scored 17 points for Monticello in the win.
Rockford 57, Litchfield 52. Grant Kloss(16), and Harrison Edwards(15) combined for 31 points in the Rockets win.
Annandale 81, Howard Lake WW 76. The Cards held off a furious rally to defeat the Lakers on Thursday night. Colton Purcell scored 30 for the Cards, while Cody Stapel had 31 for HLWW.

Friday, Feb. 21st.
State Gymnastics.
The Monticello Magic, winners of Section 7A, took second place in Class A at the 2025 State Gymnastics meet with a score of 144.7 at Roy Wilkins Auditorium in St. Paul. Detroit Lakes took home the state championship with a score of 145.6

In Class AA, Owatonna won the state championship, while STMA finished 8th with a score of 139.1
Boys Basketball.
Glencoe SL 71, Annandale 67. Ethan Sonju scored 26 points as the Panthers defeated the Cards in double overtime on Friday night. Owen Peterson had a game high 17 points for Annandale and hit a game tying three pointer at the buzzer in regulation.

Wayzata 90, STMA 59. Jeremiah Johnson scored 19 points in the loss for STMA.
Buffalo 75, Edina 66. Jordy Sorenson scored a team high 24 in the Bison home win over the Hornets on Friday.
Litchfield 65, Rockford 45.
Girls Basketball.
Wayzata 61, STMA 59. The Trojans narrowly escaped with a road win over the Knights on Friday. Cail Jahnke(18 points.), Jacey Bryan(16) and Hailey Walbon(11) combined for 45 points on the night for STMA.
Annandale 61, Glencoe SL 42. Julia Bishop went out on a high note in her final regular season game for the Cards, scoring 29 points.
Monticello 68, Zimmerman 18.
Edina 76, Buffalo 40.

Saturday, Feb. 22nd.
Gymnastics.
Lauren Hanson took home the Class 1A State All Around Championship, with a score of 37.47. It was the second straight year a Wright County Area athlete won the All-Around Championship. Last year, Jackie Bergeron from STMA won it all in Class AA. Keatyn Nowacki from Monticello finished 5th in the All Around in Class A, while Avery LeMonds from STMA finished 7th in the All Around for Class AA.

Section 2A Semifinals.
#3 Orono 4, #2 Delano 3. Bryce Peterson tied the game at three in the third period for the Tigers, but at the 2:50 mark of overtime, Ethan Pagel scored on a one timer to give the Spartans the win and end the Tigers season.
Section 5A Semifinals.
#1 Monticello 3, #4 Pine City 2. Landon Scherber scored 4:10 into overtime to lift the Moose over the Dragons, to advance Monticello to the Section finals. It was one of two goals on the night for Scherber. Aaron Rotkie stopped 54 of 57 shots for Pine City in the loss.
