Football.
Maple Lake 30, Menahga 24. The Irish snapped a thirty six game losing streak going back to 2021 with an opening game win over Menahga at home.
Champlin Park 21, STMA 12. The Knights were held to 189 total yards in their opening game loss to the Rebels. Zach Marble had eleven tackles on the defensive side for STMA.
Dassel-Cokato 28, Rockford 7. Max Ladman hit Sean Asangwe with a seven yard TD to give the Rockets an early 7-0 lead, but it was all Chargers after that. DC outscored the Rockets 21-0 in the second half. So., RB Jackson Nyquist rushed for three touchdowns for DC.
Friday, August 29th.
Football.
Delano 20, Detroit Lakes 7. Grant Bruett ran for a touchdown and hit his brother Andrew for another touchdown as the Tigers got off to a 1-0 start on the season. Isaac Miller lead the Tigers defense with twelve tackles.
Jordan 21, Howard Lake WW 20. Zach Murphy in his first game back after missing two years with injuries caught a touchdown from his tight end position, but it wasn’t enough as the Hubman escaped Howard Lake with the win.
Monticello 34, Sauk Rapids Rice 18. Cade Holthaus rushed for 167 yards and a TD as the Magic ran over the Storm on Friday. Garret Bauer notched ten tackles and a forced fumble on defense for Monti.

Brainerd 28, Buffalo 27. The Bison had a bad snap on a twenty-four-yard field goal as time expired, giving the Warriors the opening night win at Brainerd. Grant Benson threw for 304 yards, and ran for 133, while contributing four touchdowns in the Bison loss.
Annandale 54, Little Falls 6. Gabe Westman caught four touchdowns in the first quarter and a half, while Colton Purcell caught two, as the Cards led 48-0 halfway through the first half before coasting to the victory. Overall the Cards threw eight touchdown passes in the win.
Tuesday, September 2nd.
Girls Soccer.
Buffalo 1, Monticello 0. Courtney Kodish scored at the 16:13 mark of the second half as the Bison got by the Magic on Tuesday on the road. Emma Marzean picked up her fifteenth career shutout in the Bison win.
Maranatha 3, Rockford 0.
Boys Soccer.
Buffalo 4, Monticello 0. Gavin Johnson scored two goals, and Gerhard Ungaro stopped all eight shots he faced in the Bison Road win.

Delano 0, Mankato East 0. Jonathan McCabe stopped four shots in net for Delano to earn the shutout tie with the Scarlets.
Volleyball.
Kimball 3, Dassel-Cokato 2. The Cubs rallied from a 2-0 deficit to come back and defeat the Chargers on Tuesday night. Mazie Jurek finished with thirteen kills for Kimball.
Maple Lake 3, Braham 2.
Delano 3, Monticello 1. In this highly anticipated matchup between to perennial state teams, the #1 Tigers got the best of the Magic on Tuesday.
Howard Lake WW 3, Legacy 1. Despite the three games to one win, the Lakers were pushed by the Lions, outscoring them 89-86 overall on the night.
Concordia Academy 3, Rockford 0.
Elk River 3, Buffalo 0. The Elks swept the Bison at Buffalo, 25-18, 25-20, and 25-17.

Girls Soccer.
Rockford 3, Hutch 0. Cora Larson netted two goals in the Rockets shutout.
Monti 2, North Branch 2. Savannah Picken, and Courtney Kouril scored the two Magic goals in their tie with the Vikings.
STMA 1, Minnetonka 1. Avalynn Irwin scored the tying goal in the second half for the Knights.
Delano 2, Holy Family 1.
Wayzata 5, Buffalo 1. Ella O’ Keefe had a hat trick for the Trojans.
Boys Soccer.
Monticello 4, North Branch 0. Truit Garcia Silva scored half the Magic goals in their shutout win over the Vikings.
Buffalo 1, Wayzata 1. Owen Seestrom scored the tying goal in the second half for the Bison as they tied the Trojans on Thursday night.
Delano 1, Holy Family 1. Ayden Metz gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead in the first half, but the Fire tied it with a goal in the second.
Minnetonka 7, STMA 0.
Hutch 5, Rockford 2.
Volleyball.
Annandale 3, Watertown Mayer 0. Powerful kills from the left side from Jaiden Lee and Carlie Hermes led the Cards over the Royals on Thursday night, 25-18, 25-22 and 28-26. Alaina Burns led the Royals with 15 kills.
Howard Lake WW 3, Holy Family 1. The Lakers pulled away from the Fire, 25-15, 25-19, 24-26, and 25-20.
Wayzata 3, Buffalo 0. The Trojans cruised past the Bison on the road Thursday night, outscoring Buffalo, 75-50 in the three set sweep.
Litchfield 3, Rockford 0. 29-27, 25-19, and 25-23.
Royalton 3, Maple Lake 0.
Mound 3, Dassel-Cokato 1.
Cross Country.
The Delano girls team finished third at the Rocket Run at Shamrock Golf course, while the boys finished fourth.

Girls Swim and Dive.
Last week the Delano 200 free relay team set a pool record against Tri City. Violet Dady, Kaia Georges, Emma Ristau, and Sadie Rosenow set the record with a time of 1:44.25, shattering the old record of 1:48.70.

Friday, September 5th.
Football.
Buffalo 24, Robbinsdale Cooper 6. Matthew Jordan caught a short TD pass from Grant Benson to end a fourteen play, seventy-five-yard drive to clinch the win over Cooper in the fourth quarter. Trent Stromme also recovered a fumble in the end zone off a Lucas Phillips sack to give the Bison a 10-0 lead early in the fourth quarter.

Howard Lake WW 28, Dassel-Cokato 14. Timmy Webber scored the opening touchdown and the Lakers never looked back in their upset win at DC on Friday night.
Annandale 46, Glencoe Silver Lake 0. Gabe Westman caught two more TD’s giving him six on the year in just two games so far as the Cards rolled again. The Cards starters have only played four total quarters this season and have outscored their opponents 88-0 with their starters in the game.
Watertown Mayer 15, Rockford 14. In a game featuring two teams that are trying to find their footing this season, the Royals escaped Rockford with a tight one point win.
Minnetonka 40, STMA 7. Caleb Francois rushed for four TD’s in the Skippers rout. Ty Haring scored the lone Knights TD with a 7 yard TD run in the fourth quarter.
Ashby 16, Maple Lake 14. The Lakers who ended their thirty six game losing streak last week, just missed out on starting 2-0 this season with a close loss to Ashby.
Delano 17, Providence 14. The Tigers once again played stout defense and did just enough on offense to knock of the Lions on the road.
Alexandria 7, Monticello 0. This was one of the top matchups in the Metro area in 5A for the week, and as far being close it lived up to it. As far as being entertaining, not so much as the Cards earned a hard-fought win by scoring the only TD of the game.
