Thursday, December 26th.

Boys Hockey.

Monticello 4, Sauk Rapids Rice 2. Landon Scherber’s hat trick led the Moose over the Storm.

Hermantown 3, Delano 0. Even Geyen stopped 36 of 39 shots in the loss for Delano.

Girls Hockey.

Cretin DH 2, North Wright County 2. Alexa Larson scored the tying goal and Nicole Schumm stopped 26 of 28 shots in the tie for NWC.

Friday, December 27th.

Girls Hockey.

Grand Rapids 3, North Wright County 2. Alexa Larson scored her second goal in as many games and Danika Weiland also scored as the River Hawks tied the Thunderhawk’s.

Roz Landkammer #14, above in white, controls the puck at the EP Tournament this past weekend.

Litchfield DC 2, New Ulm 1. Emma Gangroth and Paizli Johnson scored for the Dragons, with Johnson picking up the winning goal.

Boys Hockey.

Monticello 6, Luverne 0. Liam O’Donnell, Caleb Baird, Nelson Poeppel, and Ashton Stoll each scored a goal and had an assist in the Moose win.

Sawyer Mich, above, scored his first varsity goal for the Moose on Friday against Luverne.

Litchfield DC 5, Prairie Center 1. Anton Haataja scored two goals and added two assists for the Dragons, while Kasey Melquist added two goals and an assist for the Dragons.

Rock Ridge 4, Delano 1.

Girls Basketball.

Delano 71, Rock Ridge 56. Abbie Pietilla and Lexi Champeau combined for 39 points in the Tigers win.

Buffalo 50, Rochester Century 41. Brianna Eggers led the Bison with 16 points.

STMA 79, Burnsville 49. The Big three of Abby Hoselton(20 points.), Cail Jahnke(19), and Ella Erickson(18) led the Knights to a blowout win over the Blaze on Friday.

Rockford 67, Hawley 65. The Rockets rallied from fourteen down to shock the Nuggets in overtime on Friday. Grant Closs led the Rockets with 19 points.

Buffalo 64, Elk River 49. Cooper Cebulla led three Bison players in double figures with fourteen points.

Boys Basketball.

Buffalo 58, Annandale 51. Nine players scored in double figures, led by Thomas Jordan’s 14 as the Bison squeaked past the Cards on Saturday. It was the first matchup between Josh (Buffalo) and Andy (Annandale) as head coaches, both are brothers and former Buffalo Bison athletes. Colton Purcell scored 20 for the Cards in the loss.

It was a packed house for Buffalo and Annandale on Saturday.

STMA 63, Champlin Park 50. Hudson Hochstedler netted 20 points in the Knights win.

Rockford 69, Holy Family 55. Grant Closs had his second straight big game with 22 points for the Rockets.

Monticello 72, Hermantown 36.

STMA 79, Champlin Park 43. The Knights won their invite as Abby Hoselton (22 points) and Cail Jahnke (20), led the way.

Monticello 68, St. Anthony 49. Samantha Voll and Abby Ruda combined for 45 points in the Magic win.

Buffalo 67, Spring Lake Park 40. Hayley Rohlin scored 14 points in the Bison win.

Orono 63, Delano 48. Abbie Pietilla(16 points, six boards and five steals) had a big game in the Tigers loss to Orono on Saturday.

Annandale 64, Little Falls 47. Three players scored in double figures in the Cards win. Julia Bishop (17), Avery Gagnon (15), and Ally Purcell (12).

West Lutheran 57, Rockford 59.

Boys Hockey.

Rock Ridge 6, Buffalo 5. The Bison rallied from a three goal deficit but came up just short against Rock Ridge on Saturday. Evan Hinnenkamp and Harvey Ylitalo each scored two goals for the Bison.

Bemidji 3, Monticello 3. Ashton Stoll scored a goal and an assist for the Moose.

Litchfield DC 9, Redwood Valley 0. Anton Haataja and Jaeden McKinley scored two goals each for the Dragons.

Hibbing 7, Delano 2.

North Wright County 6, Chaska 1. Danika Weiland lit the lamp twice and added two assists for the River Hawks.

Litchfield DC 5, North Lakes 0. Stella Hillmann’s hat trick lifted the Dragons over North Lakes on Saturday.

Thursday, January 2nd.

Boys Hockey.

Moorhead 9, Buffalo 2. The Bison got a chance to see how they matched up with the #1AA team in the state of hockey, on the road Thursday night. The answer, not great. The Spuds scored three goals in each period and outshot the Bison 45-12 in the blow out win. Harvey Ylitalo and Blake Beckman scored the Bison goals.

Boys Basketball.

STMA 79, Becker 50. Five players scored in double figures, led by 7’0 Sophomore Jack Thelen with 19 points in the Knights win.

Rockford 61, Watertown Mayer 49. The Rockets stayed hot with a win over the Royals on Thursday.

Girls Basketball.

Annandale 55, Norwood YA 54.

Aitkin 54, Howard Lake WW 51.

Notes:

In a 53-23 win over Rockford in Boys Wrestling last month, three Delano Tigers reached career milestone. Jeff Ritter, Jr, won his 60th match and picked up his 25th win. Isiaih Depa, Jr, his 50th win, and Tate Olson, So., also picked up his 25th pin for Delano.

Kayleigh Olson from Delano picked up her 100th goal in a win over Mound on December 17th.

Rockford 65, LPV 49. Braden Blanchard scored 17 points in the Rockets win.

Annandale 65, Norwood YA 56. Four players scored in double figures for the Cards. Ben Walter (20), Colton Purcell (16), Gavin Wang (11), and Gabe Westman (10).

Brainerd 72, Buffalo 57. Brianna Eggers (18) and Alayna Feekes (14) combined for 32 points in the Bison loss.

STMA 63, Eagan 44. The Knights had three players score in double figures in their win over the Wildcats, led by Cail Jahnke with 19 points.

New London Spicer 79, Dassel-Cokato 53.

Royalton 66, Maple Lake 32.

STMA 7, Roseau 5. Tanner Esterberg netted a hat trick and also added an assist in the Knights win.

Monticello 2, Minneapolis 1. Levi Welle tied the game for the Moose at the fourteen-minute mark, and Nathan Poeppel scored the game winner at the 16:40 mark for Monticello.

Girls Hockey.

Delano 6, Hopkins 4. Kaelyn Wittwer had a big night for the Tigers, scoring the game winning goal in the third period, and had three goals and two assist on the night for Delano.

Moose Lake 2, Litchfield DC 0. The Dragons outshot the Royals, 43-19, but Moose Lake goalie Mallory Hartl stopped all forty-three shots she faced in the win.

Saturday, Jan. 4th.

Boys Hockey.

Litchfield DC 5, Willmar 4. Jordan Abbott tied the game for the Dragons in the third, and Kasey Melquist won it with a goal at the 1:01 mark of overtime for LDC.

Holy Family 3, Delano 2. Joseph McCabe scored two goals for the Tigers, including the game tying goal in the third for the Tigers, but the Fire won it in overtime.

Sartell 5, Buffalo 4. Harvey Ylitalo had a goal and two assist in the Bison loss.

Bemidji 5, STMA 2.

Girls Hockey.

North Wright County 4, Rogers 1. Charlotte Heckedorf lit the lamp twice with two goals in the River Hawks win.

Anoka 3, Buffalo 0. The Bison outshot the Tornadoes putting 37 shots on goal, but Lauren Lafferty stopped all 37 shots for Anoka to earn the shutout.

Willmar 4, Litchfield DC 0.

Girls Basketball.

Delano 56, Byron 49. The Tigers jumped out to a seventeen-point halftime lead but had to hold on to defeat the Bears. Lexi Champeau led Delano with 15 points.

STMA 62, Moorhead 31. Cail Jahnke had 17 points, while Abby Hoselton added 13 for the Knights as they breezed past the Spuds.

Boys Basketball.

Moorhead 79, STMA 73. Despite 25 points from Jeremiah Johnson the Spuds won a big Section game over the Knights on Saturday.

Mankato East 84, Delano 37.
