Tuesday, October 21st.

Girls Soccer.

Class AAA State Tournament.

#1 Wayzata 1, #8 STMA 0. For the third straight year the Knights played a fellow Lake Conference team in the state tournament, and for the third time it ended in heartbreak! Morgan Bryant scored in overtime to send the Trojans to the semifinals.

Wayzata girls’ soccer, above after winning sections, is headed to the state semifinals.

Football.

Section 6AAAA Quarterfinals.

#3 Delano 40, #6 Big Lake 0. Bryce Beyer rushed for 202 yards and two TDs to lead a dominant rushing attack for Delano, as the Tigers racked up 416 rushing yards in the blowout victory. On defense, Delano limited Big Lake to 103 total yards.

Section 4AA Quarterfinals.

#4 Norwood Young America 34, Maple Lake 6. The Irish bounce back season which saw them win five games came to an end at NYA on Tuesday night.

Section 2AAA.

#4 Dassel-Cokato 35, #5 Glencoe SL 0. The Chargers bounced back from a loss to their rivals from Litchfield with a dominant win over the Panthers on Tuesday.

#3 Howard Lake WW 37, #6 Watertown-Mayer 21. The Lakers beat the Royals for the second time in three weeks to advance to the semifinals.

#2 Jordan 23, #7 Rockford 6. Bradley Graunke rushed for 102 yards in the season ending loss for Rockford.

Wed., October 22nd.

Boys Soccer.

Class AAA State Tournament Quarterfinals.

#2 Buffalo 1, #7 Rochester JM 0. The Bison in their first state tournament appearance since 2004, got a late goal from Cade Nissen with 11:32 left to advance to the state semifinals. Nissen’s goal was the first in Bison history at state, and their win was also a first. Next up are the semifinals on Tuesday, October 28th at 12:30 PM at US Bank Stadium.

Volleyball Sections.

4AA First Round.

#12 Maple Lake 3, Breck 0. The Irish swept the Mustangs, 25-12, 25-18, and 25-16.

#15 Rockford 3, #10 Maranatha 2. The Rockets trailed 2-1, but won the final two to advance, 25-19 and 15-12.

Section 6AAA Quarterfinals.

#1 Delano 3, #8 Richfield 0. The Tigers were dominant, outscoring the Spartans, 75-18 on the night, including a 25-3 win in the second set.

Delano, above, dominated its quarterfinal match with Richfield on Wednesday.

Thursday, October 23rd.

Boys Soccer. 

AA State Quarterfinals.

#2 Simley 2, #7 Delano 0. Luis Rivas Rivers scored in the first half and Michael Hernandez Ruiz scored in the second half, and Simley advanced to the state semifinals, and ended the Tigers first state tournament appearance with a shutout.

Volleyball Sections.

Section 8AAA Quarterfinals.

#3 Annandale 3, #6 Becker 0. The Cards swept at home, 25-13, 25-9, and 25-17.

Section 8AAAA Quarterfinals.

#1 Monticello 3, Brainerd 0. The Magic opened up the sections with a sweep, 25-20, 25-20, and 25-17.

#2 STMA 3, #7 Buffalo 0. The Knights swept their rivals from Buffalo in the first round, but it wasn’t easy, 25-15, 25-20, and 26-24.

Cross Country.

In Section 8AAA at STMA, Monticello advanced Isabella Mahoney to state as she finished second with a time of 18:24. Overall Monti advanced three girls to state.

Isabella Mahoney, is headed back to state for Monticello.

The Delano boys took second at sections and are headed to state, while the girls season came to an end with a third-place finish.
