The Wright County Parks & Recreation Department will conduct a lottery-based archery deer hunt in October in three parks in and around the Monticello area to manage the deer herd in higher populated areas throughout Wright County.
The three parks selected for the 2025 archery hunt are Montissippi County Park, Harry Larson County Park and Bertram Chain of Lakes Regional Park.
Wright County’s archery hunting season will take place from October 17th through the 26th. Ten hunters will be selected through a lottery system.
Participants must be able to prove that they are Wright County residents. The lottery drawing will take place Monday, Sept. 22. If drawn, hunters will be randomly assigned a hunting area.
Participants will be notified via e-mail whether they were selected for the hunt.Hunters will have a designated area for their tree stands and will only be allowed to hunt in that area. Crossbows are allowed for these hunts. Hunters will be able to access their designated hunting areas starting Thursday, Oct. 2 to begin scouting and setting up their tree stands for the season. All stands must have a tag with the hunter’s contact information. The establishment of minimal shooting lanes is permissible. Only brush, and buckthorn trees may be removed.
